A new build development to accommodate a GP practice together with clinic space for the PCT and a pharmacy.

PMP were appointed jointly by the PCT and Practice to relocate both the practice and the Bitterne Park Clinic. It was agreed that the best solution was to purchase and develop the site of the existing clinic, which was close the existing doctor’s practice.

The site access was restricted and the design influenced by close proximity of the residential building and the listed Church and the overall predominance of the site being visible from a distance, due to it being sighted on high ground.

A difficult planning scheme received consent. The space plan design of the building accommodated the GP Practice on the ground floor and part first, the PCT clinic on part first and second floors.

Build period – 10 months
Total area – 1,150 sq.m over three floors

– Consulting rooms and full ancillary accommodation for up to 7 doctors
– Office space for community nursing staff
